WebP to JPG
Many websites send their pictures as WebP because it loads faster. Save one and you get a .webp file that older programs, some photo editors, print shops and upload forms won't accept. Convert it to JPG here, at full size, and it opens everywhere.
Your files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
How to use WebP to JPG
- Click "Select WebP images" and choose one or more .webp files.
- Leave High quality selected, or choose Smaller files to save space.
- Click "Convert to JPG".
- Download each JPG, or all of them together as a ZIP file.
How to save a WebP image as JPG
When you right-click a picture on a website and choose "Save image as", the browser often saves it as WebP, the format the website used. There is no need to look for a different version: save the WebP file, then convert it here.
Select the saved file (or several at once), click Convert, and download the JPG. The picture keeps its full size in pixels, and nothing is uploaded: the conversion happens in your browser.
Why do images download as WebP?
WebP is a newer image format made by Google. It keeps pictures about a quarter smaller than JPG at similar quality, so websites load faster, and every modern browser can show it. Many other programs can't open it yet, which is why converting to JPG is still useful.
What if a WebP image won't convert?
Most WebP files convert in a second. If one doesn't, or the JPG isn't what you expected, check these.
- "Isn't an image this tool can read": the file may be damaged, or not really a picture despite its name. Save it again from the website.
- Transparent areas turned white: JPG can't store transparency, so they are filled with white.
- An animated WebP gives one still picture: only its first frame is saved.
- The JPG is bigger than the WebP: that is normal. Choose "Smaller files" if size matters.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The images are converted inside your web browser, on your own computer or phone, and never sent anywhere.
Is WebP to JPG free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.
Will the JPG look worse than the WebP?
At High quality, no visible difference: the JPG keeps the same size in pixels and is saved at 92% quality. The JPG file is usually somewhat larger than the WebP, because JPG is an older, less efficient format. Choose Smaller files if size matters more.
What happens to transparent WebP images?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need to keep the transparency, convert to PNG instead, for example with Resize image at 100%, which keeps PNG files as PNG.
Can I convert animated WebP images?
Only the first frame is saved, because a JPG is always a still picture. To keep the animation you need a video or GIF tool instead.
Can I convert many WebP files at once?
Yes. Select as many as you like; they are converted one after another and you can download them together as one ZIP file. One damaged file doesn't stop the rest.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android. Choose the WebP images from your Files or Downloads, convert them, and save the JPGs back to your phone.
