PNG to JPG

PNG is great for screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than they need to be, and many upload forms only accept JPG. Convert PNG images to JPG here: the picture keeps its size in pixels, and the file usually becomes much smaller.

Your files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.

How to use PNG to JPG

  1. Click "Select PNG images" and choose one or more PNG files or screenshots.
  2. Choose High quality, or Smaller files for the smallest JPGs.
  3. Click "Convert to JPG". Transparent areas become white.
  4. Download each JPG, or all of them together as a ZIP file.

How to convert PNG to JPG

Select your PNG files (hold Ctrl or Cmd to pick several), click Convert, and download the JPGs. Each one keeps its original name, so "screenshot.png" becomes "screenshot.jpg". Everything happens in your browser, so screenshots of private chats, bank pages or documents never leave your device.

How to turn a PNG into a small JPG

PNG stores every pixel exactly, which makes photos and detailed screenshots large. JPG is made for photos and is usually several times smaller for the same picture. Choose Smaller files for the smallest result, and compare the old and new size next to each file after converting.

If a form asks for a file under a specific size, such as 100 KB, use Compress image instead: it finds the best quality that fits your exact limit.

What if the JPG doesn't look right?

JPG is made for photos. For some kinds of PNG, keep these points in mind.

  1. The transparent background turned white: JPG can't store transparency. Keep the PNG for logos that need it.
  2. Small text in a screenshot looks slightly smudged: choose High quality, or keep screenshots with small text as PNG.
  3. The JPG is barely smaller: simple graphics with large flat colours are already small as PNG.
  4. A form needs an exact KB size: use Compress image instead.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The PNG files are converted inside your web browser, on your own computer or phone, and never sent anywhere.

Is PNG to JPG free?

Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.

What happens to the transparent background?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white, which is what most forms and documents expect. If you need to keep the transparency, keep the image as PNG.

Will my screenshot lose quality?

Photos look the same. Sharp text and thin lines in screenshots can get very faint smudges around them, because JPG is designed for photos. At High quality this is hard to see; if the text must stay perfectly crisp, keep the PNG.

How much smaller will my files be?

It depends on the picture. Photos saved as PNG often shrink to a fifth of their size or less, and busy screenshots shrink a lot too. Simple graphics with large flat areas, such as logos, may shrink only a little, and those are usually best left as PNG. The new size is shown next to the old one before you download.

Can I convert many PNG files at once?

Yes. Select as many as you like; they are converted one after another and can be downloaded together as one ZIP file.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android. Screenshots on phones are saved as PNG, so this is a quick way to make them smaller before sharing or uploading.
