Compress PDF to 100KB
Asked for a 100 KB PDF? Many job portals, university applications and government or visa websites reject any PDF over 100 KB. PDFHive finds the best quality that fits under that limit and shows you the final size before you download.
Your files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
How to use Compress PDF to 100KB
- Click "Select PDF file", or drag your PDF into the box. The target is already set to 100 KB.
- Click "Compress PDF". PDFHive starts with the gentlest setting and stops at the best quality that fits.
- Check the new size, then click "Download PDF".
- Still too big? Follow the suggestions shown under the result.
How to get a PDF under 100 KB when it won't fit
100 KB is a tight limit: roughly one scanned page in colour. Text documents made on a computer are often small enough already, but a scan of several pages needs one of these extra steps.
- For a scanned letter, statement or form, choose Black and white. In our tests, a three-page scanned document fitted in under 100 KB this way, with clear text.
- Remove the pages the portal doesn't need with Split PDF, then compress again.
- If the form lets you upload more than one file, send the pages as separate PDFs.
Frequently asked questions
Can every PDF be compressed to 100KB?
No. A text document saved from Word or a website is often under 100 KB already, or gets there easily. A scan is a set of pictures, so one scanned page in colour usually fits, but several pages often only fit in black and white or after removing pages.
What if my PDF is still over 100KB?
PDFHive shows the smallest size it reached and what to try next. For a scanned text document, choose Black and white. Otherwise, keep only the pages you need with Split PDF and compress again.
Will my PDF still be readable?
Yes. PDFHive never goes below the point where text becomes hard to read just to hit a number. If 100 KB would need that, it tells you instead.
Is 100 KB the same as 100,000 bytes?
Websites count it either way: some as 100,000 bytes, others as 102,400 bytes. PDFHive aims for 100,000 bytes, so the file passes whichever way the portal measures it.
Can I compress a PDF to 100KB on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser, pick the PDF from your Files app or downloads, and the compressed file is saved back to your phone, ready to upload.
