Merge PDF
Combine PDF files into a single document, free and without uploading them anywhere. Add your files, put them in order and download one merged PDF. No sign-up, no watermark.
Your files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
How to use Merge PDF
- Click "Select PDF files", or drag your PDFs into the box.
- Put the files in the order you want: drag a file to its place, or use the ↑ and ↓ buttons. You can add more files, or remove one with ✕.
- Click "Merge PDF". Your files are combined right on your device; nothing is uploaded.
- Click "Download PDF" to save the merged file.
How to merge PDF files on iPhone or Android
Merge PDF works in the browser on iPhone, iPad and Android phones, so there is no app to install.
- Open this page in Safari, Chrome or your usual browser.
- Tap "Select PDF files" and choose your PDFs from the Files app or your downloads. PDFs sent by email or chat need to be saved to your phone first.
- Put the files in order by dragging each one by the handle at its left, or with the ↑ and ↓ buttons, then tap "Merge PDF".
- Tap "Download PDF". The merged file is saved to your Downloads or the Files app.
What to do if your PDFs won't merge
Most problems come from one of the files, not from merging itself. PDFHive names the file that caused the problem, so you only need to fix that one.
- A file is password-protected or blocks editing: remove the protection with Unlock PDF (you need the password if it asks for one), then add the unlocked copy.
- A file "could not be read": it is probably damaged or not really a PDF. Download it again, or save it as a PDF again from the program that made it.
- The merged PDF is too big to email or upload: make it smaller with Compress PDF.
- The pages are in the wrong order: use the ↑ and ↓ buttons before merging, or fix single pages afterwards with Reorder PDF pages.
Frequently asked questions
Can I merge PDFs without uploading them?
Yes. PDFHive merges your files inside your web browser, on your own computer or phone. The files are never sent to us or anyone else.
Is Merge PDF free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark added to your document.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your device, the limit is your device's memory. Most computers handle hundreds of megabytes; phones may struggle with very large files, and the tool warns you when files add up to more than 200 MB.
Will merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are. Text, images and fonts are not compressed or changed.
Can I change the order of the files?
Yes. Before you merge, drag the files into order, or use the ↑ and ↓ buttons next to each one. The pages inside each file stay in their original order.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not while they are protected. Files that need a password to open, or that block editing, cannot be merged. If you know the password, or the document is yours and only blocks editing, remove the protection with Unlock PDF first, then use the unlocked copy. Open Unlock PDF
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in modern browsers on iPhone, iPad and Android. The merged file is saved to your Downloads or Files app.
Are bookmarks and form fields kept?
The pages look exactly the same, and links to websites usually keep working. However, bookmarks (the clickable table of contents) are not carried over, and fillable form fields may stop working in the merged file.
