Rotate PDF
Turn sideways or upside-down pages the right way up. See a preview of every page, rotate just the ones you need, and save a PDF that stays rotated in every viewer.
Your files are processed in your browser and never leave your device.
How to use Rotate PDF
- Click "Select PDF file", or drag a PDF into the box. A preview of every page appears.
- Use the ↺ and ↻ buttons under a page to turn it, or "Rotate all" to turn every page at once.
- Click "Save rotated PDF", then "Download PDF".
- Open the downloaded PDF to check: the pages now open the right way up in any PDF reader, on any device.
How to rotate one page in a PDF
Find the page in the previews and press ↻ to turn it a quarter turn clockwise, or ↺ to turn it the other way. Press twice to turn it upside down. The preview turns straight away and the page gets a small badge, so you can see what will change before you save.
Only the pages you turn are changed. Every other page stays exactly as it was.
How to fix an upside-down scanned PDF
Scanners and document feeders often save pages upside down or sideways, especially when paper is fed in the wrong way round. The previews make these pages easy to spot.
If every page is upside down, press "Rotate all" and then 180°. If only some are, turn just those pages. Then save, and the scan reads the right way up on every device.
What if a page still looks wrong after rotating?
Rotate PDF turns whole pages. The previews show each page as it will be saved, so check them before downloading.
- A page is still sideways: turn it with ↺ or ↻ until its preview is upright, then save again.
- A landscape document scanned as portrait: turning the page by 90° fixes it, and the page becomes landscape.
- Only some pages are wrong: turn just those pages, not "Rotate all".
- The PDF is password-protected or blocks editing: remove the protection with Unlock PDF first.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. PDFHive shows the previews and rotates the pages inside your web browser, on your own computer or phone. The file is never sent to us or anyone else.
Is Rotate PDF free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is the rotation saved permanently?
Yes. The new direction is saved inside the PDF, so the pages appear the right way up in every PDF viewer, when printed and on other devices. This is different from the rotate button in a PDF reader, which usually only turns your view until you close the file.
Does rotating reduce the quality or change the file size?
No. PDFHive only changes the direction setting of each page. Nothing is redrawn or compressed, so text and images stay exactly as sharp, and the file size stays almost the same.
Can PDFHive find upside-down pages automatically?
Not yet. That would need the tool to read the text on each page. Instead, the previews let you spot pages that are sideways or upside down at a glance, and Rotate all fixes a whole scan in one click.
Can I rotate pages in a long PDF?
Yes. Previews are drawn as you scroll, so even a PDF with hundreds of pages opens quickly. There is no page limit.
Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?
Not while they are protected. Files that need a password to open, or that block editing, cannot be rotated. If you know the password, or the document is yours and only blocks editing, remove the protection with Unlock PDF first, then use the unlocked copy. Open Unlock PDF
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in modern browsers on iPhone, iPad and Android, with large buttons under each preview. The rotated PDF is saved to your Downloads or the Files app.
